Basketball Recap: Berean Christian Takes a Loss

Berean Christian lost against Sheridan Hills Christian back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Berean Christian Bulldogs fell to the Sheridan Hills Christian Sharks 65-59.

When it comes to explaining why Berean Christian lost, don't look at Derek Vasquez. Despite the final result, he posted 36 points and seven rebounds. Vasquez's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Wall, who had five points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Berean Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Micah Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sheridan Hills Christian, almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Smith has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Dreyson Crynes was another key player, going 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Berean Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Sheridan Hills Christian, the victory also got them back to even at 4-4.

Berean Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-58 loss against Jupiter Christian on the 16th. As for Sheridan Hills Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-27 defeat against Dade Christian on the 16th.
