Football Recap: Decatur Eisenhower Takes a Loss

Decatur Eisenhower had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-7 to make it five. They were dealt a 55-12 loss at the hands of the Normal University Pioneers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 40-12 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

As for Normal University, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-4. Considering they have won three matchups by more than 42 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Normal University's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cade Cunningham, who picked up 134 receiving yards and two TDs, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Cunningham has become a key player for the Pioneers: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least 80 receiving yards, but 0-3 otherwise. Max Dameron was another key back, rushing for 91 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries.

Coming up, Decatur Eisenhower will welcome Lanphier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Normal University, they will venture away from home to challenge Springfield Southeast at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
