Baseball Recap: Scott County Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Scott County won against Tates Creek on Saturday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Cardinals beat the Great Crossing Warhawks by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-2. The Cardinals have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warhawks, too.

Tyler Wands spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits.

On the hitting side, Scott County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keagan Hurt, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Hurt has posted since back in March.

Scott County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Great Crossing, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scott County will face off against Woodford County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cardinals 3.8, the Yellowjackets 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Great Crossing, they will square off against Lafayette on Friday.
