Softball Recap: West Anchorage Comes Up Short

West Anchorage extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Monday, dropping them down to 0-6. They came up short against the Service Cougars, falling 14-3. The Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

West Anchorage saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mabel Nelson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI. Zehpporah Tufue was another, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Service's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6-1. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1, 2025 (when they won 13-1).

On Service's side, the team relied heavily on Alissa Coles, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that Coles has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Erin Bellville, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Service has already played their next contest (against Bartlett), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. West Anchorage will be paying especially close attention to the Cougars' game: after the Cougars face off against Chugiak, they'll take on West Anchorage again at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
