Softball Recap: Rockledge Raiders vs. Astronaut War Eagles

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Viera, Rockledge was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Astronaut War Eagles. With that win, the Raiders brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Haley Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Smith was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Haylie Miller was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Ahraya Dalaq, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Rockledge now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Astronaut, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rockledge will venture away from home to square off against Cocoa Beach at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Cocoa Beach has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.5 runs per game on average), something Rockledge will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Astronaut, they are taking a road trip to challenge Titusville at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
