Volleyball Recap: Cactus Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Cactus waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Eastmark Firebirds. This was payback for the Cobras, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Cactus walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the fourth set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 15-25, 25-21, 25-11.

Faith Connell was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 24 digs and two assists. Those 24 digs gave her a new career-high. Kenli Petty also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Cactus was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 19 aces in three consecutive matchups.

Cactus' victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Eastmark, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cactus will square off against Dysart at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastmark, they will head out to take on ALA - Queen Creek at 6:00 p.m. on October 1.
