Basketball Recap: Ness City Comes Up Short

Ness City lost against St. John back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Ness City Eagles lost to the St. John Tigers on the road by a 62-48 margin. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Ness City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Charles Parsons went 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven boards and four blocks. The dominant performance also gave Parsons a new career-high in steals (two). Benjamin Durham was another key player, going 5 of 8 en route to 11 points and seven rebounds.

St. John's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emmett Delp, who posted 18 points. The contest was Delp's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Braxton Alpers, who put up 14 points.

Ness City's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for St. John, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Ness City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-32 win against Spearville on the 14th. As for St. John, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 55-46 victory against Little River on the 11th.
