Baseball Recap: Greater Vision Academy Gets the Win

It's playoff time, and Greater Vision Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Calvary Christian Cougar on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by just one run.

The team relied heavily on Danny LeGrand, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Seth Russell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Greater Vision Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in six consecutive contests.

Greater Vision Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Calvary Christian, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-4.

As of now, neither Greater Vision Academy nor the Cougar have any future games scheduled.
