Duchesne came out on top against Orchard Farm on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Pioneers took their game against the Eagles 6-1. This was payback for the Pioneers, who suffered a 9-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jackson Nikodym spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaymeson Forest, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had over his last 13 matches. Another player making a difference was Jack Burle, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Duchesne is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Orchard Farm, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Duchesne will challenge MICDS at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Orchard Farm, they will take on Warrenton at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
