Volleyball Recap: Dr. Joaquin Garcia Victorious

Dr. Joaquin Garcia posted their closest win since April 4th on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the West Boca Raton Bulls 3-2. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 2-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The victory didn't come easy: West Boca Raton scored at least 12 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-22, 22-25, 22-25, 15-12.

Garrett Deese paced Dr. Joaquin Garcia's offense, picking up 23 kills. Deese got some help from Dylan Guillenea and his 26 assists. Finally, Adam Masri kept Dr. Joaquin Garcia's defense grounded, leading the team with 11 blocks.

Several Bulls players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Donny Lam, who had 14 digs.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for West Boca Raton, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia and West Boca Raton are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. After both having extra time off, the Bulldogs and Dreyfoos School of the Arts will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Boca Raton, they will challenge Monarch at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
