Softball Recap: Maumee Now 9-3 over Last 12 Games

Maumee barely beat Otsego the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Knights a 9-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Panthers have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hannah Ruiz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Brynn Maier was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taryn Pyle, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Maumee is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Otsego, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 15-9.

As of now, neither Maumee nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
