Basketball Recap: Mt. Vernon Takes a Loss

Mt. Vernon extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Clever Blue Jays, falling 72-47. The Mountaineers were down 57-37 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Clever's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. They haven't had any issues with Mt. Vernon recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Clever found their leader in sophomore Bella Argo, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards. The matchup was Argo's third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Lex Flood, who went 5-for-9 en route to 13 points.

Mt. Vernon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-50 win against Fair Grove on the 5th. As for Clever, they have also already played their next game, a 54-48 loss against Marionville on the 5th.
