Basketball Game Preview: Climax-Scotts Panthers vs. Mendon Hornets

The Climax-Scotts Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Mendon Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Climax-Scotts challenged Burr Oak on Thursday. Climax-Scotts fell 55-48 to Burr Oak. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Mendon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They walked away with a 51-44 win over Hillsdale Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Climax-Scotts better keep an eye on Owen Gorham. He was instrumental in Mendon's win, as he made all 6 shots he took racking up 15 points and eight boards. Gorham is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Talan Buchanan, who went 5 for 6 en route to 10 points and five boards.

Mendon's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Climax-Scotts, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Climax-Scotts came up short against Mendon when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 43-33. Can Climax-Scotts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
