Baseball Game Preview: Edison Vikings vs. West Wolfpack

Edison is 2-7 against West since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Edison Vikings will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the West Wolfpack at 3:30 p.m.

Edison is headed out to face West after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Edison was the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over West on Tuesday.

Izaak Navarrete and Santiago Moreno made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Navarrete struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Moreno struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Navarrete has posted since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Navarrete scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Moreno scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniel Chacon, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Julian Avila, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Edison took their victory against West when the teams last played on Tuesday by a conclusive 8-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Edison since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
