Basketball Game Preview: Normal University Pioneers vs. Morton Potters

The Normal University Pioneers are taking a road trip to square off against the Morton Potters at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Normal University is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since December 28, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Mahomet-Seymour by a score of 55-53.

Meanwhile, Morton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 52-48 W against the Bulldogs. Given the Potters' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 125th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Morton's win bumped their record up to 23-6. As for Normal University, their loss dropped their record down to 16-14.

Normal University was able to grind out a solid victory over Morton when the teams last played back in February of 2017, winning 58-48. Does Normal University have another victory up their sleeve, or will Morton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
