Petrides will venture away from home to challenge the Lehman Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Petrides' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Jamaica 10-0. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Petrides' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Meanwhile, Lehman entered their tilt with East Harlem on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on East Harlem with a sharp 10-0 win.
Keven Luciano was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Jhon Matos and Rayniel Linares did most of the damage at the plate: Matos went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Linares went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Linares has posted since back in March. Jesus Flores was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Lehman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Harlem only posted an OBP of .200.
Lehman's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Petrides, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
Petrides took their win against Lehman in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Petrides since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
