Basketball Recap: Ayden Padgett Key Part of a Team Effort in Minutemen Win

Liberty was handed a 20-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-53 victory over the Altavista Colonels.

Liberty's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ayden Padgett, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Padgett is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Lee, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Liberty's record now sits at 3-6. As for Altavista, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Liberty didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 81-66 defeat against Liberty Christian on the 16th. As for Altavista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-46 win against Brookville on the 18th.
