Baseball Recap: South Sevier's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Six

South Sevier waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the South Summit Wildcats with a sharp 17-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kameron Hessey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Brace Brindley was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cannon Barney, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

South Sevier kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

South Sevier pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for South Summit, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, South Sevier will head out to face off against Enterprise at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Enterprise is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season. As for South Summit, they will be playing at home against Delta at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. South Summit has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
