            Softball Recap: Novato Hornets vs. Sonoma Valley Dragons        
        
		
        
        
            Novato fought the good fight in their extra-innings  matchup against Sonoma Valley  on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Sonoma Valley Dragons by a score of  7-6. The  defeat   continues a  trend for the Hornets in their meetings with the Dragons: they've now lost six in a row.
 Isabelle Rykov spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned  (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. Those  hits were  her first of the season.
 At the plate,  Jacinda Wright was cooking despite her team's loss,   scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those  hits marked the first that  she  got this season.  Giana Flores was another key player,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-3.
Novato's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Sonoma Valley,  with the  victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-4.
 Coming up, Novato will head out to  challenge Concord  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Sonoma Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Healdsburg  at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. Healdsburg will roll in looking for their  fifth straight  win, something Sonoma Valley surely won't give up without a fight.
