Basketball Game Preview: Wren Hurricanes vs. Lancaster Bruins

Two dominant guards in Abijah Franklin and Jordan Watford are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Wren Hurricanes will take on the Lancaster Bruins on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wren comes in on eight and Lancaster on 20.

Wren is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Greer as Wren made off with a 79-59 victory.

Meanwhile, Lancaster was able to grind out a solid win over South Pointe on Tuesday, taking the game 66-59. Given the Bruins' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked second in South Carolina, while the Stallions are ranked 35th in South Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wren better focus on containing Watford and Columbus Parker as the pair were huge in Lancaster's win. Watford went 7-for-11 en route to 20 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds, while Parker went 6-for-11 on his way to 19 points. Parker is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rj Brown, who posted 11 points.

Lancaster's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-1. As for Wren, their win bumped their record up to 25-4.

Wren came up short against Lancaster in their previous matchup back in February of 2016, falling 61-56. Can Wren avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
