It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lafayette Jefferson ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Chesterton Trojans 6-5. The Bronchos haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Lafayette Jefferson got a great performance from Nate Hilsabeck as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Peyton Parker was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Alonzo Clawson-Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Lafayette Jefferson's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Chesterton, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Looking ahead, Lafayette Jefferson will challenge Crown Point at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Bronchos surely won't give up without a fight. As for Chesterton, they will take on Harrison at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Trojans will need to watch out since the Raiders have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
