Softball Game Preview: Derry Trojans vs. Indiana Little Indians

The Derry Trojans will face off against the Indiana Little Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Friday, Derry came up short against Greensburg Salem and fell 9-5.

Meanwhile, Indiana got the win against Highlands on Wednesday by a conclusive 9-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Little Indians.

Samantha Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rylin Blystone was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Sophia Boyer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Indiana hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matchups.

Indiana pushed their record up to 8-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Derry, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Derry beat Indiana 9-5 in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Little Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
