Basketball Recap: Rogers Comes Up Short

If Rogers was feeling good fresh off their 77-54 takedown of Bethel last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rogers Rams took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sumner Spartans on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now lost three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Rogers lost, don't look at Treyshawn Weatherspoon. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 17 on his way to 23 points along with eight boards and seven assists. That's the most rebounds Weatherspoon has posted since back in January of 2024. Ryan Avary was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 12 points and six boards.

Rogers' defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Sumner, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Rogers will square off against Silas at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. As for Sumner, they will challenge Lake Stevens at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sumner will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
