Basketball Recap: Mcewen Piles Up the Points Against Perry County + How To Watch

There's no place like home for McEwen, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They really took it to the Perry County Vikings for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-34 win. The Warriors' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading McEwen to victory were Laila Downs and Georgia Drinnen. Downs dropped a double-double with 30 points and 19 boards, while Drinnen shot 53% from beyond the arc en route to 33 points. Downs' big performance that evening made it 39 games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Ava Lastovka, who posted six points and nine rebounds.

McEwen was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Perry County lost on Friday, don't look at Izabella Warren. Despite the final result, she went 5-for-9 on her way to 17 points.

With the victory, McEwen broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-4. As for Perry County, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

McEwen has already played their next contest, a 64-30 win against Santa Fe on the 15th. As for Perry County, they will be home for the holidays to greet Hickman County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
