Preview: Ridgeview Panthers vs. St. Augustine Yellow Jackets
The Ridgeview Panthers will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Hopefully Ridgeview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
Ridgeview and Rickards squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly Ridgeview had to settle for second. They took a 51-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Nia Blocton, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Nacoya Blocton was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds.
Ridgeview struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, St. Augustine's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Deltona by a score of 45-43.
Ridgeview's record now sits at 13-6. St. Augustine's record now sits at 18-3.
Ridgeview beat St. Augustine 44-32 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ridgeview since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
