Baseball Recap: Dove Creek Takes a Loss

Dove Creek lost against Ignacio on Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 10-8. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sheldon Gardner was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Dove Creek's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Josh Kibel, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Dove Creek's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Ignacio, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-3.

Looking ahead, Dove Creek will challenge Sierra Grande at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Ignacio, they will welcome Nucla at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
