Baseball Recap: Granada Takes Down Ranked Edwardsville

Granada is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Edwardsville. The Matadors walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Matadors.

Granada got a great performance from Alex Piscotty as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Piscotty has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Granada let Peyton Richards and Mikey Boyd run wild. Richards scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Boyd scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Joey Marasco, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Granada's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Edwardsville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5.

Granada wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-2 victory against Regis Jesuit on the 12th. As for Edwardsville, they will head out on the road to face off against Howell at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
