Baseball Recap: New Castle Comes Up Short

New Castle and Jay County pushed the score to 13-12 the last time they played Jay County, but on Tuesday defenses reigned supreme. The Trojans fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Trojans couldn't push the score so high this time.

New Castle saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Sticco, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Sticco also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

New Castle's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Jay County, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Castle will host Rushville at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Jay County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Yorktown at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
