Football Game Preview: Johnstown Sir Bills vs. Broadalbin-Perth Patriots

Johnstown hasn't had much luck against Broadalbin-Perth recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sir Bills will take on the Patriots. Johnstown will be strutting in after a victory while Broadalbin-Perth will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Johnstown turned things around against Coxsackie-Athens on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 33-8 margin over the Riverhawks. Considering the Sir Bills' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Johnstown got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jonny Swartwout out in front who rushed for 108 yards and one TD on only 13 carries. Another big playmaker for the Sir Bills was Maxx Miller, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Broadalbin-Perth fell victim to Cobleskill-Richmondville and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Bulldogs 49-0. The Patriots have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Johnstown's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3. As for Broadalbin-Perth, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Johnstown came up short against Broadalbin-Perth when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 27-21. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Patriots' Matt Hulett, who picked up 93 receiving yards and three scores.
