Basketball Recap: Shipley's Win Ends Nine-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Shipley got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They put the hurt on the Barrack Hebrew Academy Cougars with a sharp 67-42 victory on Tuesday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-18.

Shipley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jack Naegle led the charge by going 9 of 16 on his way to 21 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Those 21 points gave Naegle a new career-high. Venkat Bayireddi was another key player, going 7 for 12 en route to 18 points and six boards.

Naegle wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Shipley was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Shipley's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-16. As for Barrack Hebrew Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Shipley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Barrack Hebrew Academy, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Barrack Hebrew Academy Cougars challenge the Martin Luther Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
