Fremont hasn't had much luck against Riverton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Fremont will face off against Riverton at 3:30 p.m. Riverton took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Fremont, who comes in off a win.
On Thursday, Fremont needed a bit of extra time to put away Layton. They walked away with a 15-10 win over the Lancers. The victory was nothing new for the Silverwolves as they're now sitting on three straight.
Fremont let Jessica Broadbent and Cara Henrie run wild. Broadbent went 3-for-5 with four RBI and one triple, while Henrie went 4-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Henrie has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Himelright, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Fremont hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 15 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Riverton faced Bountiful in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Silverwolves took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the RedHawks. The game marked the Silverwolves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Brooke Tacke was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Fremont's record now sits at 11-13. As for Riverton, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 23-4 record.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Fremont hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Riverton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Fremont suffered a grim 12-6 defeat to Riverton in their previous meeting back in March. Can Fremont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
