Wisconsin high school soccer: WIAA state tournament recap

Madison West, Whitefish Bay, Catholic Memorial and Oostburg win titles.

The WIAA boys soccer state tournament concluded Saturday at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.

Madison West (17-1-1) captured the Division 1 state championship, topping Marquette University (Milwaukee) (11-6-4) in the title game.

The lone goal of the game was scored at the 74:10 mark of the second half when junior Louie Rowe scored off an assist by senior Jonah Wallace. Madison West now has four state championships in school history.

In Division 2, Whitefish Bay (16-3-3) defeated DeForest (18-2-4) in the state title game 3-1 to claim the program's eighth state championship.



Whitefish Bay scored all three of its goals in the first half. Senior Thomas Began scored the Blue Duke's first goal at the 15:06 mark. Others to find the net were junior Reid Muderlak and senior Tucker Drane. Senior Alec Jacquart assisted on the first two goals.

DeForest's lone goal was an unassisted score by junior Landon Adams.

Catholic Memorial (Waukesha) (18-1-2) earned a 2-1 victory over Notre Dame Academy (Green Bay) (16-5-3) in the Division 3 state title game.

The Crusaders scored their first goal at 2:18 of the first half, with senior Cal Olbrantz scoring off an assist from junior Will Kinateder. The deciding goal was an own goal at 75:24.

Senior Liam West scored Notre Dame's only goal with an assist from junior Seamus Green.

In Division 4, Oostburg (20-1-1) took home its second gold ball in team history, outlasting Sturgeon Bay (21-4-2) in double overtime 1-0.



Senior Cade Dirkse scored the game-winner with 35 seconds left in the second overtime, with freshman Parker Meerdink recording the assist off a header.
