Soccer Game Preview: Mingus vs. Goldwater

The Mingus Marauders will take on the Goldwater Bulldogs in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mingus knows how to get goals on the board -- the squad has finished with four goals or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Goldwater likes a good challenge.

Mingus' defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 6-0 margin over Estrella Foothills. Give the Marauders' defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

They hit Estrella Foothills with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Sophie Walter (3), Marlee Naegle, Ashlynn Cooper, and Jocelyn Ortega.

Meanwhile, after soaring to five goals the game before, Goldwater was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lee Williams. The match was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Bulldogs couldn't quite close it out.

Mingus' win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Goldwater, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
