Softball Recap: Mount Abram Comes Up Short

Mount Abram had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-8 to make it eight. They came up short against the Mountain Valley Falcons, falling 12-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Roadrunners' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Mountain Valley, they now have a winning record of 5-4. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Mountain Valley's part, they got a massive performance out of Maddy Brown, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyanah Wing, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Abram will welcome Winthrop at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Ramblers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.38 runs per game on average), something the Roadrunners will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mountain Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Dirigo at 4:00 p.m. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
