Basketball Recap: Kade Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead North Sevier over American Leadership Academy

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact North Sevier can now relate to. They took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the American Leadership Academy Eagles. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2016.

North Sevier lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kade Johnson, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 15 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Brody Bulloch, who posted 12 points.

North Sevier now has a losing record of 12-13. As for American Leadership Academy, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-4.

Looking ahead, North Sevier will have a chance to keep the ball rolling against American Prep WV at 12:50 p.m. on Friday following yesterday's win. One thing working in American Prep WV's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 14 games. As for American Leadership Academy, they and Kanab will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. Kanab will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something American Leadership Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
