Basketball Recap: Coxsackie-Athens Extends Home Winning Streak to 13

Coxsackie-Athens put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their game with ease, bagging a 66-29 victory over the Johnstown Sir Bills. The Riverhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Coxsackie-Athens was led to victory by Baileigh Briski and Camryn Slater. Briski went 9 for 16 on her way to 22 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals, while Slater dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Slater is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Reaghan Hellen, who posted eight points and ten rebounds.

Coxsackie-Athens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Coxsackie-Athens pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Johnstown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Coxsackie-Athens and Lansingburgh will round out the year against one another at at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Johnstown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mayfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mayfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season.
