Football Preview: Male Bulldogs vs. Trinity Shamrocks

The Male Bulldogs will head out to challenge the Trinity Shamrocks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Male's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Male is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: St. Xavier, who was ranked fourth in their home state at the time (Male was ranked third). In a tight game that could have gone either way, Male made off with a 35-34 win over St. Xavier.

Jordan Williams and Chayce Burton were among the main playmakers for Male as the former threw for 167 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes and the latter rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Male's defensive line and their three sacks. Leading the way was Isaac "Spike" Sowells Jr with two. Corneilious Williams was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making five total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, after only ten points in their last matchup, Trinity made sure to put some points up on the board against Carmel on Friday. Trinity came out on top against Carmel by a score of 35-23. The Shamrocks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Male's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. As for Trinity, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Male strolled past Trinity in their previous meeting back in September of 2023 by a score of 37-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for Male since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
