Basketball Recap: Cascade Piles Up the Points Against Western Boone

Cascade won the last time they faced Western Boone and things went their way on Monday too. The Cascade Cadets blew past the Western Boone Stars 73-38. Given the Cadets' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Stars are ranked 279th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cascade to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chloe Smith, who posted 15 points and four steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Lilly Hall was another key player, going 6 of 12 on her way to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Despite the loss, Western Boone still got an impressive performance from Olivia Reagan, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 8 points and 11 rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Cascade and bumps their season record up to 7-2. As for Western Boone, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Cascade wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-54 loss against Monrovia on the 17th. Western Boone and Southmont will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Western Boone is facing Southmont at the right time seeing as Southmont is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
