Basketball Recap: Lamar Consolidated's Losing Streak Snapped at Ten Games

Lamar Consolidated can bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They secured a 38-34 W over the Fort Bend Kempner Cougars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 40-36 back in December of 2024.

Lamar Consolidated can attribute much of their success to Praisegod Chinweuba, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards. Another player making a difference was Sanaa Castillow, who posted five points.

Lamar Consolidated was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Fort Bend Kempner still got an impressive performance from Meghan Lausser, who scored 14 points and three steals. Lausser has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Ceballo, who had four points and six rebounds.

Lamar Consolidated's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-22. As for Fort Bend Kempner, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-20.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Randle the next time they take the court. Lamar Consolidated will host Randle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Fort Bend Kempner will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st.
