Football Recap: Huntland Hornets vs. Grundy County Yellowjackets

Huntland's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They strolled past the Grundy County Yellowjackets with points to spare, taking the game 22-8. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Hornets as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Leading Huntland to victory were Grant Jernigan and BJ Summers. Jernigan rushed for 43 yards and a touchdown, while Summers rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Summers got the majority of those yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible80 yards.

Huntland's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Rj Martin and Jernigan. Kyrin Baxter was another major factor on D, picking up three sacks, forcing a fumble, and making nine total tackles.

Despite the loss, Grundy County still got an impressive performance from Vince Bryant, who rushed for 133 yards while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 55 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The win got Huntland back to even at 1-1.

Huntland will face off against Cascade at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grundy County, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Lookout Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Grundy County focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday.
