Basketball Recap: Legacy Academy Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Legacy Academy won the last time they faced East Mountain, and Daniel Tavarez did his part to make sure it happened again. The Legacy Academy Silverbacks snuck past the East Mountain Timberwolves with a 58-54 win on Thursday thanks in part to Tavarez, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten boards. He has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Bryant Scales, who posted 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. That's the most assists he has posted since back in December of 2023.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Legacy Academy, bringing their record for this year to 8-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for East Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Legacy Academy is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they will take on Sandia Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Legacy Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season. As for East Mountain, they will venture away from home to challenge Estancia at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th.
