Softball Game Preview: Johnsburg Skyhawks vs. Harvard Hornets

The Johnsburg Skyhawks will square off against the Harvard Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Johnsburg's win against Grant Community wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Skyhawks won by a run and slipped past the Bulldogs 6-5. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Joree Tibbs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sarah Nethaway, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Abriana Bruns, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Harvard was able to grind out a solid victory over Plano on Monday, taking the game 10-5. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Reapers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Johnsburg's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Harvard, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.
