Basketball Recap: Sterling Comes Up Short

Sterling was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Port Neches-Groves Indians. The Rangers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 64-58.

Sterling's record now sits at 17-13. As for Port Neches-Groves, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-13.

Sterling and Port Neches-Groves could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Sterling (ranked 440th) will meet Nederland (ranked 165th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Port Neches-Groves will square off against Port Arthur Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 337 places (434 vs. 97).
