Basketball Recap: Morenci Wildcats vs. Bisbee Pumas
The Morenci Wildcats won the last time they faced the Bisbee Pumas, and things went their way on Thursday too. Morenci walked away with a 56-44 victory over the Pumas. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Morenci.
Leading Morenci to victory were Tiara Jones and Rozlyn Funari. Jones dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Funari dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Jones hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Wilson, who scored six points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Morenci has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. As for Bisbee, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.
Morenci will head out on the road to challenge the Vipers at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. San Miguel is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home. Bisbee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
