Volleyball Recap: Tri-West Hendricks Comes Up Short

If Tri-West Hendricks was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Western Boone on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bruins fell 3-1 to the Center Grove Trojans on Wednesday. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 24-26, 25-19, 25-21.

Despite the loss, Tri-West Hendricks saw an underclassman step up: freshman Julia Middleton had five digs and four aces. Middleton is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Finley Dakin, who had eight digs and four assists.

Skylyr Merriman went supernova For Center Grove., getting ten digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Merriman a new career-high.

Tri-West Hendricks has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-12 record this season. As for Center Grove, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season.

Tri-West Hendricks and Center Grove are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. After both having extra time off, the Bruins and Guerin Catholic will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Center Grove, they will challenge Decatur Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
