Baseball Recap: Gate City Takes a Loss

Gate City lost against John Battle back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Blue Devils took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans.

Hayden Wilson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Gate City's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2-1. As for John Battle, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Gate City is set to face off against their familiar foe Lee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, John Battle will challenge rival Abingdon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 2.2, the Falcons 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
