AAA Region I recap October 22, 2013
Daniel extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region I this week by beating Emerald, 35-28. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Wren took down Walhalla 54-3 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Seneca's dynamic duo of Trey Stephens and Adam Beitz proved tough for Belton-Honea Path to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Stephens threw for 174 yards and 1 touchdown and Beitz had 58 yards receiving. Marquis Arnold helped Seneca's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 57 yards.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Hurricanes and the Bears face off next week. Kelly Bryant has thrown for 1,493 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Eric Boggs has plagued opposing QBs to the tune of 4.0 sacks.
Next week's game between Wren and Belton-Honea Path will feature an aerial matchup as Bryant tests his arm against Ted Haynie's defensive ability.
As it stands, the Bears are in second, while Jeff Tate's team is in third.
The league will see a high scoring game when Belton-Honea Path and the Hurricanes face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Bears comes in having scored 304 this season, while Wren has scored 235. Belton-Honea Path scored 21 points last week as it topped the Bobcats.
The Hurricanes led the league in scoring this week by notching 54 points on the Razorbacks.
