While Hammond's win against Augusta Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hammond Skyhawks came out on top in a nail-biter against the Augusta Christian Lions on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Skyhawks have posted since May 10, 2024.

Ava Sapp made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Miller, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Eliza Spratlin, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Hammond and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Augusta Christian, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-2 record.
