Recap: Clarkstown North Rams vs. John Jay Wolves

The Clarkstown North Rams''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 28-17 to John Jay. While losing is never fun, Clarkstown North can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 315th, while John Jay is ranked 157th).

When it comes to explaining why Clarkstown North lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aidan Pompei. Despite the final result, he rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also picked up 83 receiving yards and a touchdown. Pompei was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards.

Tommy Machado had a dynamite game for John Jay, rushing for 116 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 187 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Luca Duva, who gained 88 total yards and two touchdowns.

Clarkstown North's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for John Jay, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clarkstown North has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Brewster at 5:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Brewster is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for John Jay, they will be playing at home against Greeley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Greeley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
