Softball Recap: Como Park Drops Season-High Score on Washington Tech

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Como Park). Everything went their way against the Washington Tech Eagles on Tuesday as they made off with a 35-2 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Cougars with their most commanding win of the season.

Adriana Adams and Grace Klinge were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Adams tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Klinge tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Adams has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Adams got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI, while Klinge got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five RBI and three runs. Those RBI were Klinge's first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilly Coyle, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and seven RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted four or more RBI the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Laya James, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with five runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Como Park hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.

Como Park's record is now 6-2. As for Washington Tech, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Como Park will challenge United Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Washington Tech, they have already played their next game, an 18-8 win against Brooklyn Center on the 30th.
